is everyone back in school? sarasota getting back today. a nice long stretch. it's warm and humid. you would think we would get thunderstorms this afternoon but dry air on top of us will limit that so i don't think we'll get much. just like yesterday, 20% coverage, if anything pops across the interior counties. but by tomorrow we'll get the northeast know returning off the atlantic ocean, that increasing our rain chances and allow for a little more cloud cover so the temperatures won't be as hot. i think today 95 for the afternoon high. 105 the heat index. that's what happens this time of year. with the humidity. we'll hope for thunderstorms tomorrow. i think we'll get back to 40%. so far so good on the roads. we're starting over in pinellas county, 275, this is just south of roosevelt, look how wide open the lanes are.

he and a friend were driving, hit a tree and found a block later. after they found him they also discovered he was violating his probation on a drug charge. they cuffedded him, put him in the back seat of a cruiser. while deputies questioned the man with him somehow he rolled down a window in the back of the cruiser and crawled out. again this was saturday night. he is still at large this morning. you can imagine the reaction from people who were ne scene where this happened. >> that's crazy. >> that's why the helicopter -- i heard a helicopter. it was out here about 30 minutes. there was a helicopter out here. i didn't know why. i thought they had both guys. >> small that stature, 5'2",

investigation. if you see canchola you're asked to call the manatee county sheriff's department. 5:33. polk county deputies are looking for a man they say carjacked a woman at a bone fish grill parking lot early sunday. they say the carjacker came up to the driver's window with what appeared to be a chain wrapped around his hand and ordered her out. when she did he took off in her toyota avalon. deputies later found the car crashed and burned at the intersection of west pipkin and county line roads but no of the man. crime stoppers now offering a $3,000 reward for tips leading to his arrest. to the latest on the zika virus. we're going to find out today what is happening in tampa to protect you and your family. the tampa mayor and members of the city's code enforcement team are meeting 10:30 this morning. they will outline the efforts underway to guard against the zika virus. we're going to monitor this meeting and let you know what happens. meanwhile mosquito inspectors are working in miami trying to stop the spread of

outdoor areas in the early morning hours because they say that is when the mosquitos are most active. they also dropped pellets into stormwater drains that kill larva and prevent mosquitos from breeding. despite that it's not enough for at least one pregnant woman in south florida, that is gigi mane mains, says she's driving to virginia and plans to stay with her family until the baby is born. she and her husband are worried about birth defects linked to zika. >> if we have to move away and separate for six -- it's pennies in the long run. >> her husband jared is going to stay at the couple's home in hollywood until his wife returns after she gives birth. so far no locally transmitted zika cases originated in broward county where the maines live but they've occurred in palm beach and miami-dade counties. we're learning that the suicide bomber that attacked a kurdish wedding party in

years old. he was from the islamic state group. many of the injured were also children. many terrorist groups used children to carry out attacks like this one. leaders around the world now saying this shows how important it is that all countries cooperate to fight terrorism. back in florida -- look at why some people -- what some people saw as they drove by an overpass on state road 508 better known as the east west expressway in orlando. edge. inside a woman and her child trapped. this happened sunday morning, firefighters eventually did get them out. they say the 6-year-old boy was in his car seat, the family says both of them were banged up but ok. it's not clear why the woman ended up over the guardrail but officials say alcohol was not a factor. tens of thousands of students in sarasota county are returning to the classrooms today.

year. >> also the university of florida in south tampa begins its fall semester today. fall exams are set for december 3rd through the 8th there. a tallahassee judge is considering blocking a state law that holds students back from being promoted to the fourth grade. a hearing is scheduled today on the controversial fsa testing. it comes after a group of parents from around the state filed a lawsuit. they say schools are unfairly holding their kids back for opting the lawsuit includes several districts including pasco, sarasota and hernando counties. we'll keep you up to date on what comes from today's hearing. a warning for college students and parents. the irs says scammers are demanding payments over the phone. here's what the call sounds like. >> this is an automated message from the internal revenue service. >> the irs says this is a new scam. some victims said the scammers knew personal information as

it's going to be warm and humid. it's just above us, slightly drier air will inhibit the thunderstorm development for today and that should be enough to keep us at 20%. we'll double that by tomorrow as return flow comes in. northeast wind takes over tomorrow. bringing in atlantic moisture and we'll begin to get the thunderstorms going where we should be for this time of year. limited today but back to 40 tomorrow. as far as the tropical development, fiona falling apart. still looking at this particular wave here, not tropical depression yet although i must say looks much better organized this morning. about 40% chance from the national hurricane center developing into a system, we're thinking it's going to head in this general election. what you don't see here, it's not a cone yet and as far as the intensity, that is what really is going to be key and it depends on a lot going on now. some of the models have it weaker, some stronger. we'll watch it closely. this is the one, the one behind it actually will likely become

if you're hopping on the selmon it's going to take you just seven minutes to get into downtown tampa from that point. checking the drive times on i- 4, still looking good there. the drive all the way from the lakeland area into downtown tampa. that drive is going to take you just 22 minutes. 14 minutes from county line road to 75 and just 7 minutes at the bottom from 75 to 275. if you have to fill up this morning prices are pretty much staying where they've been in recent in tampa you're paying $2.03 for a gallon this morning. the state average is $2.10. across the country the average is $2.16. two people are now charged with the murder of an associate professor at penn state. >> state police there saying danielle grier and josh ishley jr. drove ronald berry to a quarry inconvincing him it was

we're back and it's monday. checking on titan doppler radar, nothing doing. in fact by later on this afternoon won't look that much different. very dry for today. certainly for this time of year. right now we're checking in, in the upper we'll still have the heat and the humidity. and plenty of sunshine, just not as many thunderstorms, dry air on top of us that will limit coverage for today. the bus stop looks good and for sarasota getting back into it here, a lot of sunshine, 7:04 the sunrise, upper 70s to low 80s but it's going to be a hot afternoon. no question with temperatures in the lower 90s. the humidity will make it feel like it's well over 100. we'll give it an "a" though
